Daily Scripture Reading: Mark 15:33-38
“And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.” Mark 15:37-38 (ESV)
For a thousand years, the temple in Jerusalem was
established as the dwelling place of God. Only the High Priest was allowed to enter the innermost part, the Most Holy Place, once a year to make a sacrifice on behalf of the people. What separated humanity from this place was a curtain, and that curtain tore open at the very moment Jesus took His final breath. When the curtain tore, Jesus became the final sacrifice on our behalf. We can praise God that our great High Priest shed His own blood to give us direct and permanent access to the presence of God.
Pray this prayer: “God, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to be the sacrifice on my behalf so that I can come directly into Your presence. Thank You for giving Your Holy Spirit so that Your presence dwells within me.”
