Daily Scripture Reading: Luke 23:44-46
“…The sun’s light failed…” Luke 23:45 (ESV)
The Bible says that while Jesus was on the cross from the sixth hour (noon) until the ninth hour (3:00 p.m.), “the sun’s light failed.” Clearly He wasn’t just another person that the Roman Empire crucified. Jesus said He was “the light of the world.” (John 8:12) And as the Light of the World died, it’s clear that a world without Jesus is a truly dark place.
We mourn the death of the Savior. But we know the rest of the story: God’s light overcomes all darkness.
Take a few minutes and turn off all the lights in your room and pray. Focus on the death of Jesus and the moment the sun stopped shining. Thank Him for enduring the cross, and thank God that, no matter what the world does, His light will always overcome the darkness.
