40 Days of Lent | Day 35: On the Cross

Daily Scripture Reading: Mark 15:21-27

“And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take.” Mark 15:24 (ESV)

A sinless life facing temptation but never giving in. An intentional ministry teaching and living alongside ordinary people. A unique message of hope and light in a dark world. A betrayal. An arrest. Biased questioning. Brutal beatings.

And now, a cross.

On the cross, Jesus bore the punishment for our sins. He gave up His perfect life. He set up the greatest victory of all time. And it was all for us.

Dwell on what Jesus did on the cross and think about everything that means for you. If it helps, make a list. Thank God for this incredible act of love—the greatest act of love—and ask Him to help you continue to see more of the richness, beauty, and life found in His death.
