40 Days of Lent | Day 34: A Prayer for Unity

Daily Scripture Reading: John 17:1-26

“…That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21 (ESV)

Before He went to the cross, Jesus prayed for His disciples and those who would come after—that means you! We are living out the same faith as the disciples did 2,000 years ago, and Jesus prayed even then that we would be uni ed so that the world would believe.

This world is full of conflict and hatred. But if we—the Church—put unity on display, it could be the best way for the world to see Jesus. He is the source of our love, and when we love each other well the world will see Jesus in us.

Pray, “Father, forgive me for anything I’ve done to bring disunity to Your Church. Protect us from the evil one who tries to separate us and provoke hate. Please help me to love those around me so that the world might see You in me.” Is there anyone in your life you need to ask forgiveness from?
