Daily Scripture Reading: Luke 19:1-10
“And Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.’” Luke 19:9-10 (ESV)
Zacchaeus was a man who found himself in the crosshairs of public ridicule like many who find themselves on the wrong end of a viral video. Yet, upon hearing that Jesus was nearby, he made himself an easy target by climbing into a tree in the hopes of seeing the one called Savior. Imagine his surprise when Jesus came to the trunk of the tree and called him down. Think of the shock that fell over the crowd as Jesus proclaimed that salvation had come to the one who was widely known and hated for his thievery and betrayal.
