Daily Scripture Reading: John 6:16-21
“When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. But he said to them,
‘It is I; do not be afraid.’” John 6:19-20 (ESV)
Do not be afraid. That’s one of the Bible’s most commonly repeated phrases. God reassures us because He knows we’re prone to fear. The unbelievable sight of a figure walking on water in the darkness causes the disciples, seasoned fishermen, to quake in terror. But when Jesus identifies Himself, He calms their fears and restores their courage.
Think about how you would see your current fears and worries if Jesus were sitting right beside you. Remember that those who are in Christ have the Spirit of God with them at all times! Trusting this, thank God that He is right beside you fighting your battles.
